Vessel of Life

The summer sky is numbered with the stars.

I spot a glowing star to wish upon.

The summer sea is numbered with the fish.

The burning embers flicker faintly here.

Lilies bestow water upon the tree.

That cleansing shell shall pour upon the land.

The wind shall smile and touch golden ground.

A floral wreath is there to remind us.

The grass shall be watered till it turns green.

The mirror shall reflect summer’s sunbeam.

The crops in the field prepare for harvest.

I shall hitch a ride upon the white whale.

I shall hitch a ride upon boarded boats.

I shall someday submit myself to fate.

I face each day with a reward– a pearl.

My innocent green eyes will soon turn dark.

Yet summer shall turn them back into light.

This is my first time experimenting with blank verse poetry and I decided there was no better way to write it than using the seasons.
