Bound by chains of anxiety,

incarcerated by bars of fright.

Though I long to love, my nerves

I cannot fight. I long to be held,

I long for a love that would last.

Despite my longing for affection, and my

desire to be held, my feelings remain trapped.

I remain in my emotional cell. I watch as

others part-take in love, and I sadly shed

a tear. Longing so much to part-take in love,

but remain a prisoner of fear.

This poem depicts the power fear can posses over a person's ability to love if they let it. It can also symbolically depict fear's power over anybody's aspirations if they give it that power as well.
