High School Poem
The world is wondrous, wild and free
A place of endless possibility
But in the halls of high school, we see
A darker side of humanity
The cliques and crowds, the gossip and lies
The way we judge and criticize
It's all so repugnant, it makes me quiver
To think that this is how we deliver
Our judgments and our harsh critiques
To people who are still finding their feet
We should be building each other up
Instead of tearing each other down, like a pup
So let's embrace the wondrous world
And all the possibilities unfurled
Let's leave behind the repugnant ways
And start anew, with hope and grace
For we are seniors, soon to depart
From this place that's played its part
In shaping who we are and will be
In a world that's wondrous, wild and free.
