Toughen Up
Night time brings terrors
Memoirs that were buried
six feet underground
resurface to make themselves known
I ask for your help
For your advice
And what did you say
Toughen Up
I took your advice
and buried the memories like once before
Hidden behind that fake line
That everything is fine
But at night the ghost haunts
the walls of my mind
I can’t sleep as the memories
create a storm deep inside
I ask again for time off
to seek help as it is to much for me
And you respond
Toughen Up
I get that
I know I was taught to swallow
the problem
Not to dwell on the past
but it is hard to look past
when it shows up in my head
So I will drink myself to sleep
As the memories can’t dance if nothings there
So I will have Toughened Up
In your eyes
