The Hugging Tree

October 24, 2022
By Anonymous

Glistening light shines through the autumn leaves

Turning on and off as we walk through the shade

The trees greet us with open arms

Beckoning us over, “where my hug at?”

I feel possessed as my body walks over to the lumber

My arms curl around the soft lichen

My hands caress the bark with a loving touch

My heart feels the warmth of the tender trunk

And we leave the chaos of the outside world, disappears
