I used to wonder where my luck lied.

For all my life, I simply denied

Whatever fortune, palms faced open,

Could fix my inside all broken.

I wanted to believe,

To never even conceive

Of a darkness, a shadow of doubt:

I’d ensure that the beginnings of hope would sprout.

The author's comments:

I have always wondered what my life would be like if I hadn't made the same decisions as I have now. Rather than face a barrage of worries and feelings of helplessness, I decided to take control of my life by holding myself accountable for my past decisions and seizing my future with confidence, passion and hope.
