Dear, Icarus
Icarus Icarus hear my plea
I too do wish to flee
The king is ruthless, cruel, and vain
His loyalty I can no more feign
I long for wings of wax and wood
So we may fly like the birds could
To make acquaintance with the sun
And be free of all the oppression
I wish for escape from life’s cruelty
I wish to soar high above the sea
Up in the clouds no pain remains
This ecstasy I can’t explain
Higher and higher we ascend
Lost we became in the moment
Their warnings we forgot to heed
And slowly we were losing speed
Drip drip drip the wax did melt
Was it terror or freedom that we felt
We’ve acquired a golden key
One in a million opportunity
Tell me icarus how do you feel
Are your darkest dreams being fulfilled
Or as you fall do you feel regret
For this untimely fate we met
We crash into the raging sea
These waves show us no mercy
I think I feel at peace at last
But shouldn’t I feel aghast?
Icarus Icarus hear my plea
Do you too, finally feel free?
