Parasitic Love
You strip me of my claws then ask me to fight,
You sever my wings then ask me to take flight.
You suffocate me then wonder why I choke,
You set me aflame then ask why I smell smoke.
The things I’d endure just to hear you say my name,
Though I know when I’m broken you’ll never take the blame.
An object of amusement is all I am in your eyes,
But a single look into yours and I’m in paradise.
My heart is tied up in your poisoned chains,
And this mockery of love is all that remains.
I stay oblivious while I’m under your spell,
And I wait for the day it’ll finally quell.
