Ode to 90 Degrees
Ode to 90°
I remember being at the playground in 90-degree weather,
The smell of that heavy humid summer,
The taste of freezing water,
The noise of kids crying after tripping and scraping themselves,
The feeling of uncomfortableness of the wood chips inside my shoes,
The number of times I would beg my mom to stay longer even though
I could not stand the swollen mosquito bites anymore.
I remember buying different flavored charamuscas and chocobananos
across the street after I would miss the ice cream truck.
Now when I dry by, I wonder if the kids share the same memories that I have.
Thank you, summer, for bringing such joy to my life.
