MORE THAN A POCKET WATCH

A pocket watch

My great grandpa's pocket watch

Originally from Pennsylvania

But lives with me now

Grew up in a coal mine

But is retired now

It tells more than time

It tells memories

Tradition

Happy times, sad times

Stories of family

It holds much wisdom

And will never be forgotten

As it is passed down from generation to generation

It will carry on its knowledge

Like an elder from a far away village

While it looks like a pocket watch to the naked eye

It is more than that

More than just a pocket watch.

SPRING FORWARD

The grass is burnt yellow

The trees are lifeless

However the sun is shining

As a cool breeze passes

I can smell it in the air

Spring is coming

A smell that I can't describe

But a smell that everyone knows

Life is on its way back

Soon we will see it again

Yellow green leaves

Forest green grass

And bright blue skies

The showers of April

And the flowers of May

Up North summers

And freshwater

Spring is coming.
