My Gallery
Welcome to my gallery,
A place to store my story.
Notice each canvas?
Some unknown, blank, and torn;
Some lost, frozen, and lifeless;
Some bright, unique and heavy.
Lights flicker, eyes sting.
Two doors fork ahead.
Where I enter is inconclusive.
Where I approach might be overwhelming.
White, empty, chapters are waiting for me .
Wherever I go, I shouldn’t regret.
Colorless ideas will send me wandering,
Until I find my calling.
Seek Orange for my ink.
Past is gone, future is unknown,
Passion is always there, don't say it’s at home.
Home moves, but I can’t forget,
History written in Purple; memories I can’t ignore.
Where I may stand now is my choice in the end.
Notice the colors on the canvas?
Reach for the paint.
Dip in Pink for hope.
Maybe swipe the Red for anger.
Touch the Canvas; it’s rough at first;
It may be torn from frustration.
Could be Blue from sorrow?
Never give up, fall, or break.
Never lose concentration,
Outside the box is where you stay.
Focus on a single bare board,
Don’t drift to the next easel.
Keep brush in hand,
Don’t listen to the people.
Hear music, that's my inspiration.
Grab the Green as the cover of your story.
Be your own creation,
You choose your canvas.
Never steal what you don't own,
Never give your details to another.
Trust the process, finish what you start.
Love every moment until it all falls apart.

I love poetry and I love telling my story. I began writing poetry more regularly in 2019 after going through a rough patch. I have found that songwriting, poetry and writing down whatever is on my mind has helped me cope with my anxiety and depression. This piece is a conceit that I wrote talking about how life is an open book, and every chapter, event, person, and milestone that enters, is just another page to record, create, and add to you ongoing, never ending book of life that is unique to everyone.
