A Walk in the Park and A Winter Wonderland
A walk in the park
I walk around the park on a bright sunny day
It is a simple walk for fun, the park paints a beautiful display
Children are running all over the place
They are of every race
The children are all at peace
I even saw one chasing some geese
The parents are all sitting down on their phone
It is like the children are alone
It is a saddening sight
The parents, only in technology do they take delight
I continue to look around on my stroll
A kid is on the ground by a bike of which he lost control
I walk right past
Sadly it looks like he may need a cast
I pass a large grass field
Thoughts of regret and my true face are revealed
I walk past all of the problems in this park
My mind begins to go dark
The world has changed and I don’t think for the better
a girl falls, her parents on their phone too busy to get her
When will we learn
Some time and attention is what the children yearn
When will we learn
The golden years of childhood, to devices parents turn
When will we learn
A Winter Wonderland
The snow covers the ground
The children are happy because there is no school
The children go and play in the snow
They dream of snow forts 10 feet high
The snowplows come rumbling through
snow piles up in the yard even more
Forts and snowmen are build
The weather and wind get colder
The children go back inside
The newly-wed couple lives next door
For snow, they have a different view
Snow is an annoyance
The husband goes out to shovel the snow
He is hoping it will stop
They both need to go to work
They are working for their future
A baby is on the way
They need all the money they can get
He goes back inside, defeated
His wife welcomes him in with hot chocolate
They spend the rest of the day inside
The old man sits in his window
He watches all the other people
He is hoping the snow will stop
He cannot shovel the driveway
He is stuck in his home
He decides to make the best of it
He decorates his house, Christmas is only days away
His son and his family are flying in soon
His phone starts ringing
His son is bearing bad news
The plane was delayed
He looks back outside in sadness
Hoping that it was all a bad dream
