This is What War Is Like
Moving like a giant, time turning awfully slowly.
Blooming like a flower during the winter, cold, sad, and hopeless.
Expanding like hysteria and spreading like wildfire.
Scattering like ants from water, knowing it is not a fight that could be won.
Streaming like a flag, prideful and a warning.
Yelling like a dog who has been left behind, waiting for their loved ones to return.
Waiting like the first day of a new year, hoping that something good could possibly happen.
