Tears of gasoline

Mind’s gears twist and turn

Chains hold like metal fetters

The engine of my feelings runs

With fuel and toxic letters

The meter goes over the limit

Overwhelming speed of thoughts

But I’m exhausted In just minutes

Left stranded nowhere, joyous distraught

Alone yet still with myself

What is this, a body or a machine?

Hot and heating, I’m overwhelmed

We both cried tears of gasoline

The author's comments:

I'm 16 and I love to write whether it's stories or poems. I express my thoughts and feelings and specifically those I cannot express physically. I write about social issues and circumstances prevailing our world today.

This poem was written to highlight anxiety. Various symptoms like sweating, Heart palpitations, overwhelming thoughts, crying spells, intrusive thoughts, etc.

Our minds run like cars as if life's a race. But we forget to realize that our mind dies with our body, but our souls live on. So who bothers to see if our souls make it past the finishing line of the light of dawn?
