Ode to Water
Water, you are an angel from heaven,
A clear substance with absolutely no secrets,
you shimmer with the perfect sparkle
as you pour out of the showerhead,
and the kitchen sink.
You wash away all of my physical mistakes,
any dirt or germs lingering on my fingertips,
and stains that may be left on the counter,
any smudge on the window,
you are truly an easy solution.
Water, you give life to us all,
you home the wonderful marine creatures,
ranging from the tiny majestic fish
to dull frightening sharks,
all getting the opportunity to enjoy you as their habitat.
To us humans, you control us.
You fill over 50% of our body,
and replenish us when thirsty,
and refill us with fuel.
Water, you pour down from rocks in the jungle,
and drizzle from the white puffs in the sky,
you sore through drenches in the ground,
so you quite literally connect our world,
allowing cultures to clash,
people to bond and travel to new places.
You led to revolutions
and new explorations of the world.
Water, you have ownership of over half of our world,
you are all of the “blue” surrounding the continents
on each and every map of the earth.
You are present in every atmosphere of the planet,
ranging from the crystal clear turquoise Caribbean,
to the polar, frigid arctic,
each one of these bodies is made up of you.
Water, you represent new beginnings,
you purify us,
and leave your temporary mark on everything you touch,
whether it's your physical residue,
or your necessary nutrients,
you impact us all in one way or another.
