The Train
The trees bend over in a way it calls for you
It's asking for me to explore
The old fence sits broken but leaves a spot to sit
Broken, but still has a purpose
Old wood slabs held together with metal rails
Holds the pressure of a heavy vehicle just screaming by
It's tough but handles
It hurts but without those slabs, there's no train
Without a train where do you go?
Sun shines on my back as I walk down
Each trip we see how far we can get
What more can we see?
What more is there to talk about?
Some days I sit alone
Others you join me
Some days I hope you show up
Others I never want to see you
The feeling is like the train I guess
It takes a bit to get going
But once it's here the conversations don't stop
24/7 it feels no stop
And then it leaves just as fast as it came
It's time to wait for the next train
Why does it work like this?
Is it because of the consistent thought you can't get out of your head?
Or am I just the slight break you need?
I help you get away for those three days
And then we wait for months, right?
The train runs screaming through the neighborhood of quiet homes
It has much to say but not enough time
Sometimes you hear it
But if you're not looking for it you won't hear
