Kids of Summertime
The season that fun is born
That the sun shines brightest
Queen of poolside smiles
Why must you leave?
Why must you only see us 3 months a year?
Only until our skin turns brown
That freckles blossom on our nose,
And our cheeks a rosy pink
The way in that the sun has kissed us
Must you then turn to leave?
And we find the cold approaching
With the crunching of leaves
Oh summer time beauty,
Like the sweet flowers and the painted skys
What I would do
To be able to keep you
For more than till the end of July
To have late nights all year round
And laughter ring through the streets
One wish in our minds-
A picture perfect night that lasts forevermore;
You would hear whispers in the breeze
As we drive past in our car
Loud music pumping through our viens
Our heart rate syncing up with the base
Finding our hands up facing the sky
Knowing that in this very moment
We are the kids of summertime
