Controlled
Controlled-
After Controller
Power and defeat
The feeling of being able to
Conquer all
Yet constantly losing
A feminine delicacy
Considered fragile
The worship of a goddess
In a state of relaxation
The shades of pink
Purple contrasted with
Swirls of green and blue
A war of hues
Yet a closer look shows
Harshness, chaos
An overflowing sink
And an undisturbed death
To be feminine is to be
Controlled
Yet given a controller anyways
A false hope

This was my first ever ekphrastic poem based on Elizabeth Malaskas's artwork, "Controller". I think it speaks to me and many other women that are faced with the everyday challenges of living in a "Mans World".
