Summit to Everest
Credit we give to Hillary, he is all we can prove
But did anyone before him try to summit the mountain
The monster we call Everest
Nearly 30 years before with technology almost non-existent
Mallory tried to climb, to a point that was too high
No record of his summit ever reached the ground,
Many years later his body found so close to the top
Yet did he died making the summit or did the air run too low on his way down
The mystery remained until tales of camera surfaced
The camera was not with Mallory, it must have been carried by parter Irvine
If the camera could be found, and pictures of the top were revealed
History would be rewritten, the credit of the first summit regiven
So that’s what a team did, they made the summit to find the camera
Attempting to rewrite the books
They searched around as they made their way up
But no camera has ever been found
It could be buried in snow, broken for a fall down a cliff
Since this evidence lingers in the unknown the world will remain bereft

This is a newspoem about a recent climb made on Mt. Everest to find the camera of Irvine. If the camera was found they could print the pictures and possibly prove that explorers Irvine and Mallory were the first to summit Everest.
