The flight of my plight

A splash of colour.

Was it a bird in flight?

Does she know of my plight?

Oh! Look how she flies, like a graceful kite,

With a red plumage,

And a sprinkled gold behind.

On a summer morn bounded by none,

Free to explore and reach any height.

A gold red against the lightest of blue,

Yes, she does make a beautiful sight.

How I wish that I had wings,

The right to shine by discovering the “outside”.

But here I stand, barred behind the glistening glass

Wishing to fly and fly and shine like the morning star.

Reaping for mistakes often committed,

Cloaked in a shroud of solitude

Trying to escape reality

By writing about my agony.

The author's comments:

The above is a self composed poem describing how earlier the birds were caged and forbidden to fly and now humans are caged in their homes while the nature grows.
In this poem I intend to depict the irony of our(humans) situation. Earlier we used to bound other animals like birds in cages for our entertainment. That is why I have taken the example of a bird to depict freedom. Now we are the ones bounded in our homes while other life forms shine brighter than ever.
I wish for others to realize that nothing lasts forever but, being an optimist we should always look for the small yet extremely happy parts of our life to go on because with every breaking dawn, we get closer to new revelations and freedom. I hope you like it.

(please give feedback as it is my first poem on Teen Inks 🤞🤞)
