Wide open spaces nowhere to go to;
down a back road away from the city
in a little town called Franklin. It is
a long hot summer day where the peaches
grow and honey is made by the honey
bees. Grass grows sending a sweet scent through the
air, hay is on the ground for horses to
eat, and cock-a-doodle-do at 5 past
4 happens every morning before it’s
light. Another day out at dawn with the
burning rays beating down; lunch is packed and
water’s in hand for another hard day
of work. The plow plants the seeds in the ground
where new life will grow. Tomatoes, peppers,
corn, and cucumbers will all be growing
here. Chicken eggs will be hatching and cows
will be milked. Apples and oranges that
are growing on trees will be harvested.
This all happens down a back road away
from the city in a town called Franklin.
