“I dreamed a dream,
A silent dream
Of a land not far away.”

But when I awoke,
My dream was gone
In a cloud of colored droplets.

Each image was smoky,
The colors mere hues
Until all was shapeless and soft.

I reached out to touch,
Grasping just as much
As a hand swept through smoke.

The first stanza of this poem is a line from the song "The Awakening," which is a choral piece I performed in District Chorus a couple of years ago. It's a lovely song, which is why I used it as my muse.
