Through the Years
Five years old, first day of kindergarten
Walking through that long hallway
Everyone seems bigger
and taller
Cops and robbers on the playground
You make a best friend
Six years old and you’re finally in the first grade
Learning multiplication is a breeze
Running to the dotted carpet
Your friend saved you a seat
Seven years old, eight, nine, and ten
You’re in fifth grade
The big kids of the school
Running on the playground
For the last time
Saying goodbye to your favorite teachers
Growing up too fast already
6th grade comes around and you don’t know anyone
Excited but nervous
Butterflies in your stomach
Where are all the classes?
The bathroom?
Who do I eat lunch with?
7th grade and you know the whole school
And everyone in your grade
Math seems to be getting harder each year
Thoughts of the junior high makes the hair on your arm rise
Goosebumps
8th and 9th grade
Mean teachers
Preparing for high school
Awkwardness
