I once met a boy
I once met a boy
In a peculiar place
A place I never imagined
I’d be forced to face
But it may have been worth it
For the insight I gained
About the complexity of the human brain
I have to admit he drew me in quick
Attractive in every way
gentle, artistic, overall beautiful to say
His skin, brown eyes, nose, and full lips
But it wasn’t that only that that interested me
When he pulled up a chair and began to speak
We talked for a minute
About deeper things
About things you feel but can’t be seen
About something unusual
He was incapable of feeling emotions-
Not even the scary things
Pain, depression, and fear
I asked if he could feel love and I was shocked to hear
“Yes.” Not hesitant, but sincere
He was far from heartless, nowhere near cold
I sat alone at lunch
He came over to me
I took his actions as empathy
I said I thought you didn’t feel emotions
He replied so sweet
I don’t like to see you alone, it bothers me
I smiled
Even though I knew it was a small thing
But to me, it was a sign
Not even love fades
