The Animals In Me
Have you ever felt
the teeth of an alligator climbing your skin,
or have you ever felt
an elephant sleeping on your ribs while you run.
I feel a million ants
climbing on my back ribs at this moment.
I feel two anteaters
tugging at my left knee when I wake up.
I feel the rhinos
fighting each other on the back left of my brain.
I feel the butterflies
making cacoons around my good memories so I won't see.
I feel the crickets
jumping around in my stomach avoiding burns.
I feel the mini-chicks
pecking at my eggs until they bleed.
I feel the woodpecker
resting on my left lung after he pecked some holes in my heart.
I feel the robin
trying to fix the holes with sticks and gets frustrated.
