Can you feel the rhythm, feel the beat?

Innocent people shot in the streets,

Hiding in schools, yeah that’s a treat,

Lives are now incomplete.

Scared and frightened, can’t say we’re brightened,

Land of the free, can this be?

Why can’t we see? Is our freedom guaranteed?

The words we speak, what we believe,

We don’t just grieve, we retrieve.

Our voices are heard, then they get blurred.

Seems like they forgot, we’re not absurd.

The lives we lost, how much it costs, and yet

We still came across a path that exhausts.

Look around, see what we’ve found.

Blacks and whites flying kites,

The different varieties that all unite,

Shinning bright thinking everything’s alright.

We came far and figured out who we are.

Though we’re still scarred, we try to stay on guard.

Not forgetting our history which remains a mystery.

There is still progress to make so we must stay awake.

Let’s not take a break, instead step up and overtake.

We are stronger together and we should always remember,

We’re clever so don’t ever surrender.
