The Rainy Day
Thunder knocks on my door as I curl up under my blanket
Heavy rain showers my creaky, old windows
Everyone lays on the floor until the carpet is no longer seen
Rough winds shake the house left and right
A thought of fear strikes the minds of children as they wine to their parents
I think about yesterday when it was bright outside and the sun shined on my face
Not knowing that the next day would be dark and cold like the snow of winter
Yesterday was warm and the air stuck to my skin like honey but
Daylight has disappeared into the eye of this storm
And I reach for the hands of my parents and snuggle into their arms
Yet I can’t help but wonder “Where did the sun go?”

This piece was based off of a true story and it inspired me to write an acrostic poem about it.
