Cycle
I'll be okay,
I'll feel good,
People will love and respect me,
I won't feel so isolated.
Illnesses.
The misbelief that,
Something external,
Is going to bring us health.
Psychological problems,
Smoking.
It's my fault,
Guilty.
Try not to do that,
You're just a victim.
Bad luck.
You're just a helpless victim.
There's not much,
You can do.
Do somehing about it.
Hey, you have a psychological problem.
Eat,
Smoke,
Get better.
You are alone,
Don't account for risk.
Psychological behaviors.

The themes of "Cycle" have to do with unhealthy habits and cognitive disorders. I wrote "Cycle" with the intention for the final stanza to cycle back to the first, mimicking the repetative process of self-doubt. The piece relfects the thoughts of a person trying to fix their unstable mental state with external substances. The negative thought process produced by these behaviors are implied through the person speaking to themself.
With my generation, I've noticed the rapid incline of teens abusing substances with new, convienent products placed into the market. My inspiration for dwelving into the mentality of a person with extreme self-distortion, is to relate with the concept of falling into traps we set for ourselves. These traps can be both literal and figurative; humans chose to either rely on substances with the beleif it'll cure their mentality or find healthy coping mechanisms.
