It’s been in the past for a while.
I try to hide my broken heart.
Innocently, I’ll smile,
But I’m trying to move on and restart.
I’m done stressing over you
Because I really did try to fix it.
I thought this was what you wanted, too
But you just ignored it.
You let me fall
With no intentions of catching me.
I gave it my all
I wanted to prove I’m not your enemy.
I can’t remember how I even loved you,
I left you my heart, and you left me without a clue.

I'm sure everyone's felt this way before: loving someone who didn't love you back. I'm sure everyone's wondered how they could have ever felt so strongly for someone who didn't reciprocate those feelings. Well, I was assigned to write a sonnet for English class, so I decided to make it about a personal experience.
