“Everybody wants happiness, nobody wants pain; but there can't be a rainbow without a little rain.”

Everything is dark from the beginning

Opening the barrier between the darkness and the vision of the world

Looking up at the lilac clouds, the sky touching the color spectrum between blue and green

Lowering his head to look at the plastic gummy looking trees

Bright green candy grass, Sitting in a beautiful fantasy field

Snapping his head from one side to the next as deer-like creatures dash across the field

Almost touching their cyan-greenish bellies as they jump over him, gracefully without any pause.

The smooth blanket-like grass underneath his hand as he pushes up off the ground to stand

Mountains of cold colors standing high above like touring giants

Horned animals, long tailed animals, touching his childhood fantasies with the greatest imagery

Painted sunsets, smeared night fall all at once

Each step revealing a new discovery

Fairy-like creatures surround him

Equally curious of each other

One touch ignites a burst of colors in the sky like the northern lights

The shapes of animals and fantasy creatures dancing amongst the light

Touching something inside of him, something wants to burst out

Quickly as they had come the lights disappear

A wolf approaches, lowers itself to the ground, climbing on board

Like a lightning bolt it spirits off between the trees, holding on tight

Beautiful sunsets, bright warm oranges, reds, pinks fill the sky

Zooming past everything, a running river next to him seeing his reflection

The feeling of something trying to get out comes back

Deep breaths, wolf runs faster

Running a path it seems to know

Bringing him to his destination the feeling grows stronger

The world around him pulses like a heartbeat

Breaking in and out of consciousness

Running faster and faster

Up the mountain side towards the heavens

Closing his eyes to the darkness to reopen them multiple times

Pulse picks up, breathing heavier

Vision blurring slowly

Hands start to glow blue

Up and Up and Up

Breath Breath Breath

Up Up Up

BREATH BREATH BREATH

Closing eyes, darkness

Opens eyes

The world in front of him, mass of fields, trees as he slips of the wolf’s back

Stepping towards the edge the sunset painted sky scrapes over the landscape like

a  fantasy world

Looking upon the world like a ruler

Looking down seeing a lonely flower, a journal beside it, like it’s handing it to him

Picking it up, the smooth leather beneath his fingertips

Slipping the strap that holds the secrets together off

Opening it to a story book, telling, explaining the fantasy world

Beautiful drawings and stories of each creature

Experiences, the same feeling of something wanting to burst out

The glowing hands, the urge

Fur appearing on the body

The wolf like eyes peering back at him within his reflection in the water

Changing more and more the longer he’s within this fantasy world

Then a blank page, another, another and another

Ending of the story, Looking down at the flower placing the journal back gently

Looking back at the wolf sitting, waiting, staring

Understanding eyes

The feeling comes back to him urging to be let free

Deep breaths as he steps toward the wolf

Understanding the story of it changing

The wolf steps closer nudging itself against him, sharing its story with him

The feeling hitting hard, making him fall to the ground clutching the area where his heart would be

Looking up at the wolf as it cocks its head to one side watching curiously

Knowing exactly what’s happening

Hands glow blue

Back pains, vision blurs

Teeth clutch holding back the scream of agony

Lights surround him swallowing him up like a meal

Floating up high without effort

Screaming the glowing grows brighter til it is blinding

As easy as everything had started things disappear leaving him lying on the ground

He gets to his feet slowly, noticing the weight on his back

Turning around relieving two big shining blue wings

A change of clothes now replaced with a rope of leaves

Opening his mouth feeling fangs

The biggest change of all was the blueberry colored skin

The wolf examines him, not surprised like he knew

Such mystery, becoming one with the fantasy world that he had awoke in

He blinks over and over again overcome with the urge to sleep

He would not give in

Again the wolf lowered itself to the ground allowing the boy aboard

Running back down the side of the mountain

Clutching the soft fur in his newly transformed hands

A bumpy ride ending the story

As they near the bottom the wolf comes to a slow stop in front of a dimmed cave

Slowly entering the cave, cracks within the rocks glowing with a tinted blue

Crawling with insects not from reality

Fantasy...the word describes it all

The wolf nears the end of the cave entering a den of sorts

Human items lay about the cold floor

The wolf lowers, allowing his passenger to slip off without effort

He slowly makes is way to a corner of the cave with blankets in the shape of a dog bed

Laying down, his paws underneath his head, ears back, sleeping

The boy made his way to another pile of blankets

The urge to sleep overcoming his eyelids

Lying down gently upon the ragged blankets

Looking out at the fantasy world one last time before closing his eyes

Allowing the darkness to over take him again

The darkness, the emptiness, the loneliness, overwhelming

A beeping of sorts begins to grow louder and louder within the blackness

Opening his eyes to a dull room, light peeking out from a window with broken shudders

Sitting up, the blankets fall from around him

Putting his glasses on, getting up to enter a bathroom

Looking in the mirror, he appears to be a normal human boy

A black spot surrounds his eye, remembering his bully at his school

An urge of wanting back into his fantasy world overcomes him

Salty tears start to stream down his now red hot cheeks

Passionately wanting back into the world where he can control anything...become anything
