The day the world ends
My mind bends back into shape
I realize that it is all for naught
Except for her
People run screaming through the streets
Calling out names, clutching children like
Precious gems
I am missing mine
People no longer themselves
But beasts with logic
There is no more dangerous a blend
My footsteps echo my soul
As I traverse the scarlet asphalt
Outside her door, I implore
The voice on the other side to let me in
It’s chaos out here, I say
And I enter
To see her alive and well
But not for long
