This Night

This night moonlight was born
with her reverberating laugh
as second glances exchanged in silence,
a blush from cheeks to pass.

Fingers intertwined with sudden ease;
hearts soared and sang on shore,
while a smile as hesitant as a question
begged to be adored.

City streets were the beating heart
to the serenity of the seas;
lights glittering with the anticipation
of a man bent on one knee.

Ignorance delighted lovers,
hypnotic as was the dark;
each blissfully swinging and swaying
to the song of the midnight lark.
