This is a land of ice
glass covers this half of a great wild earth:
this is natures frozen heart and life.

Mirrors frozen over water! Where industry and nature splice;
this land is sleeping under layers of glass; soon to thaw and later rebirth;
this is a land of ice.

The wind on high is the only foe, the deep setting cold the only strife;
this world, it’s a benevolent tyrant, beauty matched only in worth;
this is natures frozen heart and life.

Mirrors to a gateway world, not to be sold, for any price;
sweeping wind, howling in mirth-
this is a land of ice.

This world, oh beautiful world, so amazing from day’s retreat to night;
this stunning wonder of an entity, the mighty ship of natures berth
this is natures frozen heart and life.

So woolen in the face, warm, protected and concise,
My love, I shall show you my other, where we shall watch and lurk-
I show you this land of ice-
nature’s frozen heart and life!

This poem was written for an english class. I think the format is messed up when I posted it in the text box.

Fantastic Villanelle! I've been attempting one and getting frustrated for a very long time now. Great work =]
