Just a Hiefer

Can we take a moment,

One moment to remember its flavor

When we were hungry; craving for adventure

So we stopped by a fast food restaurant

A cashier handed you silver change

Renting some of you time, and handing you the tray

Exiting the waiting line

Take a seat at a table

And open the wrapper and take a bite;

Savor its bursts of flavor

The beef is delicious; you won’t regret it

Yet you will not feel guilt for the cow

Baby cows grow without a mother

Up into the tall sky where they

Take your mom away

Fishing for any happiness left within, but finding nothing,

Ending it all would feel better;

Ending this nightmare would be best;

Living without a mother and looking forward to the same fate

Guilt is what you should feel

Undying sadness for the mothers who never watch their children grow

If only cows could feel;

Lying to ourselves because of the guilt

Telling ourselves lies

Yet you will not feel guilt for the cow

This poem was originally an example poem, but I liked this one better. This poem is broadly about adultery.
