Walmart grocery stores across America are losing 3 trillion dollars per year because of burglary and theft. What can stop it? Surveillance systems. High tech tools and gadgets to stop shoppers and employees before they get away with the cash. Even though some people believe that these same systems stalk you and can get your information, I believe that these systems are not creating the problem, but fixing it.
I believe that surveillance systems are doing a good job keeping people from stealing. Just imagine how much more stealing would occur if surveillance systems were not in place. There would be at least four shoplifts a day and at least three thousand dollars lost in a month. It would be chaos! Also if security cameras were not in place, employees might not feel safe and quit their job.
Though, some people may argue that security cameras can be used to stalk you, which they can. Also, some people argue that when shopping online people can steal your personal information which is also true and can happen. To include some people argue that the high definition cameras can see your facial expressions so they can stalk you and creep on you. However there are ways to prevent these things from happening.
Such as, if someone wanted to stalk you through the security cameras, security would get there before you could have an eye laid on you. Also most employees have girlfriends, boyfriends, or are married and won’t even think about doing those things. To include, when online shopping certain systems on the computer can be downloaded to a computer to protect you from cyber attacks or hackers. Finally, even though high definition cameras may be able to stalk you, they are mostly for your own safety. If a crime is committed in Walmart or Target or one of those stores, the high definition cameras will be able to pick up the face and let the cops know who to arrest.
To conclude, surveillance systems are helping stores lose less money each year from burglary and theft. Some people may say that stores spy on you and steal your information for their own personal gain and this may be true. However the cameras are helping to catch more crooks than ever before; and if this continues, these crooks will be too scared to steal. Again, these systems are not creating the problem, but fixing it. So yes, stores should spy on us.
