The fire in the middle of our campsite gives us warmth, light, and ultimately power. I am snow camping (camping in the snow). I am in my tent and am chilled to the bone. My tent is not stopping the water from coming in. My sleeping pad is completely soaked, my sleeping bag is not insulating me. I take a breath of air, and I feel the coldness. I go outside, I touch the ground, it’s moist, cold, and frozen. My fingers are numb, even as I continuously try to warm them up. My face is numb as well. As I near the fire, I slowly rejuvenate my heat. I wiggle my fingers and the feeling slowly comes back. I lick my lips, as I see the strawberries on the table, big and juicy. However, I am using my knife, and accidentally cut myself. I feel the blood on my skin, warm, and fresh on my skin. My blood is flowing. Blood keeps all humans alive, it pumps through our veins, carrying oxygen. Blood is magical, it will clot up to heal. The strawberries on the table await me. I take on bite on the succulent, and sweet strawberry. I take another one, the strawberries are amazing, I can smell it, full of flavour. It’s the first thing I have ate in the last few hours. We live with it all around us, without it we would die. Warmth, blood, fire, it keeps us alive. As I slowly heat up, I am engulfed with red.
