Moving
I tossed and turned for an eternity in that dark room. A low mumbling caught my attention. I got curious. I tiptoed down the hallway, avoiding squeaky floorboards. I pressed my head against my parent’s smooth bedroom door. Silence. I was about to return until, “Are you sure about this? Imagine how the kids will feel telling them we’re moving..” I froze. Why? Life was perfect already. I couldn’t concentrate in school. I tried convincing myself it was just a joke. When I got home, brown boxes were everywhere. “Surprise!” my mom said. I couldn’t believe it. This was real.
