Gone!
My best friend Emma trudged up the steps of the bus. Her head was down she looked upset. When I could finally see her face, there was a tear sliding down her check. She cautiously sat down next to me. Then proceeded to tell me one of the worst things I would ever hear.
I ran; ran as fast as my legs would take me. My feet were pounding on the hard concert aisle way. Tears were streaming down my face as I got to the wooden stall door. I yanked as hard as I could as the door slowly creaked open. I ran inside the stall and collapsed face down on the straw. As I was sobbing, my horse Fiddler, a sixteen-hand thoroughbred, came over to me rubbed his large head into my stomach.
"Fiddler, she's moving. She's really moving!" I stammered. Fiddler licked my hand as I started to stroke his soft velvety nose.
"Bella, Bella where are you? It is dinner time," my mother called. I slowly got up brushed off the straw that was stuck to my clothes, and walked back to my house.
"Mom I have some really awful news," I quietly whispered, as I got back to my house.
"Oh, ok honey what is it?" My mother replied worriedly.
"Emma, she's moving!" I wailed.
"Oh sweetheart I feel so bad. But you do know that it will get better right? You will make more friends! Since she won't be here," my mom replied.
"But I will never have a friend as special as her!" I screamed as I ran up to my room and kicked the door shut.
A week later I was at Papertown middle school, watching as Emma packed up her locker. I felt as if someone had punched me in the stomach. I was going to throw up. I walked with her to the front of the school where her mom's Honda mini van was waiting for her.
"Ok so I guess this is it." I whispered.
"Yeah I guess so. I just want you to know that you are now and always will be my best friend!" she whispered back. "Sorry I need to go, love you!"
"Love you too!" I stammered. "Bye, bye"
I watched her gorgeous blond hair swayed back and forth as she got into her mother's car. I waved to her until her she turned round a corner, and I could no longer see her car. I trudged back to my locker as I got my backpack and started the twenty minute walk home. When it finally sunk in that Emma was gone and not coming back I became depressed. I slept a lot and I took many naps during the day. Still I always looked sleep deprived. I didn't eat much. I never smiled. My parents, became worried about me. But they still never did anything. I guess they thought one day all my feelings would just go away. Even though I was depressed the one thing that kept me going was Fiddler. I was now at the barn every second of the day. Besides when I was at school. If you wanted to find me; everyone knew I would be there. But one day a girl who was around fourteen came into the barn. She had curly dirty blond hair and was around five six. I was grooming Fiddler and barely even looked up when she entered.
"Hello," she said.
"Hi," I replied. "Do you need help?"
"Nope, I have seen you around a lot. I wanted to know your name!" She said excitedly.
"Oh I haven't seen you before, I don't think, but my name is Bella. What is yours?"
"Olivia, and I am guessing you love horses just as much as me, because you are around here so much. Yeah I am new I don't have many friends; so whenever I see a friendly face I say hi!" Olivia say with a grin.
"Actually my best friend just moved away, so I am in need of a new bestie!" I replied with a laugh.
"Well I think we will become the best of friends! Hey how about we take a ride together I will go get my horse!"
"I agree we will become great friend. Come on let's go ride!"
Less than an hour later I was riding on Fiddler and Olivia was riding her horse Sully. After a quick half hour ride, Olivia and I went on a walk together and let me tell you it was the best walk I had ever been on! And I knew I now had a new best friend forever!
