Summer

Laughter fills the street,
The concrete is smooth,
As scooter tricks are landed,
Bike pedals are pushed by feet,
Hair is being braided with beads,
Screams or “hooraying” are sounds of joy,
When cars rush down the street

Kids yell “CARRRR”
and run to the sidewalks.
The scooters fall or scrape against the concrete,
Which causes a shrieking metal sound in your ears.

Kids wait patiently as the car goes by,
Then once it’s clear the adults yell,
“ALL CLEAR!”

The scent of sunscreen and sea
Fills my nose as the day goes on,
And the concrete scrapes starts to heal,
As the sun falls down.

When night falls,
The fire pit is lit up,
And sticks with gooey marshmallows
are roasted and graham crackers are waiting.

Everyone smiles and
Laughs as spooky stories are told.
This is just one day,
Of many days,
To be told
In the future.

Just nostalgia about summer and how it used to be as a kid, also to have fun.
