Zombie Apocalypse
I wake to blood curdling screams. The sound almost deafening, what is going on? I immediately jump out of bed and hear the noise coming from the room over. It must be the freshman who is homesick or having another nightmare . I walk quietly down the creepy corridor hoping that it was only a dream that the freshman was screaming about. The door seems to be a mile away and every time I get close it appears to get farther and farther away. Once I reach the door, I grab the doorknob but something wasn't right.
1 week earlier
Today is early enrollment for the freshman coming to University of Idaho and of course my super happy go with the flow roommate had to get me up at 5 o’clock this morning to help out. Britney my roommate loves the cool mornings where we get up at crazy times to go get coffee from Cafe Artista the local coffee house down the road from our sorority. Then going and working or helping out. Today of course was the day to help out by giving directions to a sorority house. Every year we do this and if you ask me it is far from fun, parents crying about their child leaving them and growing up and emotional teens realizing they have to live on their own; not my cup of tea. By the end of the day I am beyond exhausted, but all of a sudden I hear someone screaming ‘what the heck’ I walk toward the main building to find a girl hunched over and coiled into a ball. People are starting to surround her, I push my way through and tell people to go away and leave her alone. I bend over and ask what happened, all she does is lift her arm up hiding her face, in her arms place is what looks to be a capital B written in blood. I can't breath what happened to this poor girl and why does the puddle of blood below her seem to be writing of some sort. Little did I know that, that wouldn’t be the only strange event to happen in fact it would be one of the many strange events to happen.
The girl that I found two days ago now lives in the same sorority as me in the room next to me she is a freshman. Her name is Amanda. She hasn't been sleeping well and still won't tell us what happened. She joins Brittney and I in the mornings to go to Cafe Arista but still won't talk much. “Something is a little strange with that one” my english professor points out, I ask why he responds “ I don't know she just gives me weird vibes”. What my professor says sticks in my head for the rest of the day. Brittney and I are about to leave for a party so we go to invite Amanda but she has locked herself in her room and won't come out, so we just leave her alone and head out. We get to the party and start to find all of our friends but not soon after a person grabs my shoulder out of nowhere and starts screaming at me but I can't hear anything over the loud music. So I grab the girl by the arm and I take her outside “what do you want” I say, “Something happened…..” “What happened!!” “.......” nothing, she just looks at me and then says the smallest thing “..Amanda”. I turn into a dead sprint not letting the girl finish a run straight to the sorority. Thank goodness I love running and I am a somewhat decent of a runner too, otherwise I wouldn't have made it in time. Blood again, everywhere . All the other girls are to shocked to move so I head straight down the hallway in almost a sprint, right towards the Amandas door trying not to fall in the puddles of blood all over the floor. I open the door and run right into a horrible horrible seen. Amanda is in a corner rocking back and forth sobbing and covered in blood as well as everything else in here. On the wall a giant word is written in blood “BRAIN”. I can’t breath I can't do anything but then everything goes black.
I wake in the hospital next to campus. Brittney at my side with huge eyes watching me. First thing out of her mouth is “what happened?“ “I don't even know myself other than the only thing I can remember is blood every where and then Amanda, oh gosh Amanda where is she” I get up to move but there is a bunch of cords hooked up to me and I had yet to notice that my older brother is sitting in the corner looking extremely tired and worried. “What is going on I only fainted and Josh why are you here?” My brother Josh looks at me and says “you didn't just faint, you have been out for two days and the doctors almost lost you last night. That’s why I’m here” What? How is this possible I couldn't have been out for two days, that can't be right I only passed out and I did hit my head I'm guessing because of the size of a bump I have on my head but that isn't significant enough to me being out cold for two days. The doctor walks in and says everything has checked out ok and I can be released in two hours. My head is spinning less than a minute ago I wasn't ok and now I'm ok so I can leave the hospital. What is happening?
The next day I'm finally feeling ok enough to go back to my normal routine with Brittany. Something is still off but I don't know what, I think Amanda feels it too. She has been out more often but that’s because she is just trying to avoid going into her room. I've gotten her to talk a little bit about what happened but not completely. Apparently she was taking a nap and woke up with her room like it was. Unfortunately the other girls all were in the kitchen far from where all the blood was so they don't know what happened either. It's all just a big question. I lay in bed, trying to figure out what is going on and end up falling asleep the best sleep I've had since the first day of early enrollment.
I wake to blood curdling screams. The sound almost deafening, what is going on? I immediately jump out of bed and hear the noise coming from the room over. It must be the freshman homesick or having a nightmare . I walk quietly down the creepy corridor hoping that it was only a dream that the freshman was screaming about. The door seems to be a mile away and every time I get close it appears to get farther and farther away. Once I reach the door, I grab the doorknob but something wasn't right. I finally realize whose door the screams are coming from and the door I'm grabbing. Its Amanda’s. I'm so scared to open the door knowing something bad is happening in there. I push open the door and put one foot through the door only to find the ground soaking wet and I have to think the worst, it’s blood. There is a heap in the middle of the floor and a slight moaning sound and writing all over the walls “BRAINS”. “Oh no.” Suddenly the heap move and starts moaning louder and louder. The moaning stops and then the smallest of cries comes out “help” it sounds as if it comes from a child but just as soon as I think of that I see Amanda's small figure leap out of the heap on the floor. Looking nothing like the Amanda I met a week ago. She looks as if she was in a fight and her clothes are ripped, I realize what is happening she is zombie. It all makes sense but that can’t be true zombies don't exist and yet here is one right in front of my face. Amanda moans and moans, she tries to come after me but I am too fast for her. Her roommates slowly rise out of bed and tries come after me. I'm trapped and don't know what to do or where to go there are more girls coming through the door I'm the only one still alive but then I feel a tingle all over my body then all of a sudden I pass out.
I awake with nothing on my mind but eating something I don't know what but all I do know is brain and the rest of the world wants it too. I realize I've changed into exactly what I thought Amanda was. How did I even become this, why did I even become this. Then it hits me that day that I passed out. Amanda didn't wake up that way she did it purposely did it and that blood everyone touched it and that's why everyone else changed too but why didn't I change sooner like everyone else. This hurts my brain to much and I feel dead but I guess that is because I am dead or I have been dead since when that one faithful day when I touched Amanda's blood on early registration day.
