Sterling woke up to the sound of his alarm getting louder and louder. As he opened his eyes light was streaming through the blinds and lighting up his room. He sat up in his bed and rubbed his eyes, seconds later he heard his mom yell at him to come down and get some breakfast before he had to go to school. He got up and got dressed he wore jeans and a tee shirt. He ran down and ate his breakfast, he had pancakes and bacon. Once he was done eating he said goodbye to his mom and grabbed his backpack and started walking to the bus stop. There he met his friend pam they talked about their favorite tv show and the new episode that came out the night before. They talked about how funny it was and the different scenes on the bus ride to school. Once they got to school sterling said goodbye to pam as he headed to his first period and she left for hers. His first period was physics with Mr Sanchez. He sat in the back of the class and he had his headphone in, listening to his favorite song. That’s when the bell rang and the day began. Sterling’s mind was wandering that morning so he didn't hear much of what Mr sanchez was saying. That’s when jessica walked into the classroom she was sterling's crush and had been since 6th grade. She was a short girl with dirty blonde hair and the tips dyed midnight blue. Her skin was a tanned and she was wearing a summer dress and a bow in her hair. She walked in and sat in the front of the classroom just 4 seats in front of him and on seat to the left. Sterling sat back in his chair and listened to the rest of the lecture. The bell rang finally after what felt like an eternity he grabbed his stuff and ran to catch up with jessica.
“Hey jessica”, he said.
“Hey sterling, are you ready for that test next week?”  Jessica replied
“Not really, i kinda just spaced out today as usual”
They continued their conversation down the hall and to jessica’s class. Thats when they passed a sign advertising prom in a few weeks. So sterling got the idea to finally ask her out and make his dream come true.
“So jessica i have something to ask you” said Sterling
“what is it”? Asked jessica
“I was just wondering if you'd like to go to prom with me” Asked sterling shakily
“ Oh, id love to go to prom with you” she said
“ really? Sweet! I wasnt expecting you to say yes”
“ No ive wanted you to ask me for a while”
They hugged and he said good bye to her and went to his next class. Sterling didnt really pay attention the rest of the day because he was so happy that Jessica had said yes to him. When he got home he told his mom that he was going to prom with jessica and she was very happy for him. That night all he could think of is how fun it was going to be to go to prom with her. The next few weeks whizzed by and the day of prom was finally here he was going to pick her up at 6:30 and they would go out to dinner at her favorite restaurant before going to the dance that started at 8:00.
He was in his new tux and had his hair combed down and freshly shaved. He said goodbye to his parents and got in his car. He drove over to jessica’s house which was about 10 minutes away. He parked on the street in front of her house and started walking up towards the front door, he knocked on her door three times and she answered about 5 seconds later. She looked stunning she was wearing a beautiful white dress and had cherry red lipstick on. Her hair was curled and hanging down to her collarbone and the white dress made the blue tips stick out like the night sky. He was speechless.
“ Well what do you think?” she said
“ You look drop dead gorgeous” he answered
She giggled “Thanks” she said “you don’t look half bad yourself”
They then walked down to the car and he opened the door for her so she could get in. As they drove toward the restaurant they talked about school and family and their friends as well as funny childhood stories. They were both having a ton of fun talking with each other and were both laughing a lot at the other person's stories and experiences. They arrived at the restaurant it was a Indian food restaurant called  “Abbis Indian cuisine”. Sterling grabbed the door for Jessica and they walked in. The restaurant was Indian themed with statues of hindu gods in the entryway and pictures of indian landmarks on the wall. They were seated by the host who had a thick accent and only knew a few words in english.once they were seated Sterling asked
“What’s your favorite thing to get here”
“ The Tandoori chicken is to die for” she answered
“ What about the Chicken tikka masala?”
“ Its really good as well, most things here are super good” she replied
“Ok well i think im going to go with the chicken tikka masala and some naan if youd like to split that with me”
“Sounds good to me” Jessica said
The waiter came by and they ordered the food. They continued talking about school and various other subjects including a tv show they both liked. They talked about the tv show up until their food came. It all looked so good the tandoori chicken was a bright red and the smell was heavenly. The chicken tikka masala was to die for he ladled it over some rice and ate until he was so full that another bite would’ve made his stomach explode. He then asked the waiter for the check he paid the bill and left a nice tip because of the amazing food.
Sterling then took Jessica’s hand and led her to the car where they got in and started driving towards the dance. It was 7:55 and it was about a 15 minute drive so they would arrive fashionably late. The drive over there was shorter than he expected so they arrived at 8:05 instead of 8:10. They walked up to the school it was cold so sterling gave her his sweater so she would be warm in the line to get in. The line was really long for this early in the night. About 3 people ahead of them was a group full of jessica’s friends so she went up to talk to them while Sterling held their spot in line. After about 5 minutes Jessica came back because it was almost their turn to get in. At the front there were two tables set up each with a volunteer sitting behind them with a stamp. He handed the volunteer the tickets and both of them got a stamp on their wrist and headed into the dance. It was  a hollywood themed dance so to get to the dance they got to walk on a red carpet. As they entered the gym music was blasting through the air. The dance floor was packed full of kids that were all dressed in fancy clothes. Jessica and sterling made their way to an area away from the dance floor where it was quieter.  That’s where sterling found Pam and her date they talked for a while. After they were done talking Jessica and Sterling went to go dance. Sterling wasn't a huge fan of dancing but he didnt want to disappoint Jessica. The song playing was a popular song at the time called “ Wake up”. Jessica got right into it but it took Sterling a little bit to get into it. Once he had gotten into it he discovered that dancing was actually a lot of fun and he got really into it. He didnt know most of the songs but he danced to them any way. After the song “I must be dreaming” a slow song came on. He had been practicing slow dancing since Jessica had said yes and he finally had it down.  He grabbed her by the hand and waist and brought her close to him and started swaying back and forth with her. It felt like the universe had stopped and all that he could sense was jessica and the music. They locked eyes and they both started leaning in for a kiss all his dreams where about to come true.That’s when he awoke to his alarm getting louder and louder. It had all been a dream but he knew what he was going to do today.
