chocoholic
Chocolate is a medicine that can cure all ailments. It can turn tears into a smile and brighten a bad day. Ever since I can remember, I have been in love with chocolate. It does not matter what form it is-chocolate cake, brownies, ice cream or candy. The moment it hits your tongue it consumes you with happiness.
I remember the night well. I did not want to go to dinner with my family. I wasn’t even hungry. I wanted to stay home in my pajamas and play dolls. My parents made me get dressed up with my little wedges on. I walked into dinner with a big pout on my face. I barely ate my food and kept begging my parents to go home. The night turned from ordinary to extraordinary the minute I walked into the dessert room. It was a grand room filled with pastries and cakes of all kinds. As I looked around the room, my eyes lit up as they spotted the fountain overflowing with rich velvety chocolate. My feet began to dance with delight and moved before I could even say a word. Before I knew it, I was gazing into the chocolate fountain with bliss. The fountain was stacked as tall as a mountain reaching into the sky. I was in awe as I watched the tiers of chocolate cascade down like a silk blanket warming me from head to toe. The room filled with the aroma of sweet cocoa. Children gathered around the fountain like honey bees swarming a hive. My senses were in overdrive. I gazed at the long wooden skewers that were diving into the fountain. Strawberries and marshmallows dipped into the waterfall of chocolate. I could not resist. I grabbed a skewer and carefully placed a large red strawberry on the end. I placed the strawberry into the chocolate and the fountain parted like a curtain opening for a Broadway play. I proudly carried my plate back to the table. I opened my mouth and the strawberry entered my mouth like a rocket. The heavenly taste of chocolate filled my mouth instantly changing my mood.
I s k i p p e d to the car like I was on cloud nine.
It is amazing how a night filled with chocolate can lift you off the ground.
