Punished By My Dreams
Long, lean, and with a leap in his step, a young wolf walked through the calm forest. He had unusual patterns that no men have ever seen before. Like any wolf, he had gray fur and a white line that ran from his muzzle to the end of his fluffy tail. The only difference is that he had light blue fur on the left tip of his ear and on both of his front legs were three stripes of different color, light blue, white and light violet in that order. He ran, making leafs dance in the autumn air. Those who knew this youngster knew where he was going. It was always the same place at the same time and the same reason, he was in love. Only his closest friends knew about his little crush; they were known as Enigma and Jenny. Enigma was a happy deer. She wasn’t like other female deer, she had little horns and white freckles sprinkled across her mouth. It’s kinda hard to believe that a deer and a wolf could ever be friends without trying to kill one another, but there’s always a first for everything! Jenny was a very sociable dog. She had droopy ears and unusual nose, mouth and eye color; like Snowy. She had bright violet eyes and her mouth was a bright neon green just like her nose. Back to the wolf zooming through the forest, who did he have a liking to? Well, it was on the cute little cat who lived in a nearby neighborhood; snuggled between the forest and the city, the only thing that separated the houses from the forest was a long fence. As the houses came into view he couldn't help but feel butterflies in his stomach. Once he was standing in front of the fence he barked the name that made his heart soar. “Lovette! Come out!” he barked. A silhouette appeared on the tiny window of the house and jumped out before a snowshoe cat appeared again at the top of the fence. “Hello, Snowy~ Back for our chat?” Snowy wagged his tail as he replied “You know I am! Anything new in the neighborhood?” “Not really, the usual…” Snowy scowled knowing well what she was talking about. “Are the dogs from next door bothering you again?” “They’re younger than me!” Snowy gave her the puppy eyes, Lovette tried to look away, but no one can resist the puppy eyes. “Yes...they've been bothering me.” Snowy then growled and started pacing back and forth in front of the fence. “You know if you would only let me-” Lovette harshly cut him off. “Let you what? Get you killed for trespassing?!” “Lovet-” “You know well what they will do to you.” “Yeah but-” “Yeah but what Snowy? Are you really going to risk your life for a bunch of mutts?” Snowy then stopped pacing and plopped on the ground in defeat. “You’re right… but what about you? What will happen to you when they finally catch you?” At that remark, Lovette's tail started twitching. “I-I won’t get caught-” “Are you really sure?” Lovette stayed in silence. One minute...Two minutes...Three minutes...Nothing. “Well…” Snowy spoke up, “I’ll be on my way, later Lovette.” Snowy got up and slowly made his way back to the calm forest.
Light shone into the cave Snowy was quietly and peacefully sleeping. Not a second later a deer peeked into the cave, and slowly made her way to Snowy and slightly nudged him. She whispered “Snowy? Snowy it’s time to wake up.” Snowy mumbled incoherent words. “Don’t make me get Jenny~” Snowy’s head shot up and slowly got up and stretched. “I’m up. I’m up! Don’t you dare get Jenny!” Enigma walked out of the cave with Snowy tailing her. He walked up to a little stream that was near his cave. He drank the cool and refreshing water while Enigma sneaked up behind him. “When are you going to tell her?” Snowy’s eyes shot open and choked on the water that he was drinking. “W-what?!” Enigma gave him this look. “You know exactly what I'm talking about, but if I have to I will repeat myself.” Snowy stayed silent before coming to a conclusion. “I-I...I’ll tell her today when I go visit her.” Enigma gave him an encouraging smile which turned into an excited smile. “Oh! Jenny and I got something to show you!” Snowy’s ears perked up. “Follow me!” Enigma then shot into a sprint, the forest coming to life as she disappeared into it. Snowy caught off guard, almost tripped trying to catch up to her. “H-hey! Wait up!” Running after her with a dopey grin on his face, dodging and jumping over tree branches. Finally catching up with her they ran side by side occasionally rubbing against each other and when they did, they would turn to each other and smile. After running for miles, they made it to a place that didn't look familiar. “Where are-” His words were long forgotten as what was in front of him was a beautiful waterfall, the sunlight hitting it in an angle that made it shine and sparkle. Enigma giggled and said, “You're going to swallow a fly if you keep your mouth wide open.” Snowy shut his mouth before turning to look at Enigma. “What is this place?” Enigma jumped to a nearby rock. “This is what I wanted to show you! Jenny should be around here.” Jenny then appeared behind Snowy and shouted loud and clear. “Hey, Snowy!!” Snowy’s nerves jumped out of his skin, twirling to see who had shouted so suddenly. “Jenny! You almost scared me to death!” Jenny jumped next to Enigma. “Heh, sorry.” “It’s alright, just where-” Jenny cut in, “Are we? I’m not sure, but isn't it nice!” Snowy took in his surroundings; the waterfall wasn't too big, it was a good size he could probably jump off it. “Yeah it sure is nice, but you know what’s better?” Jenny and Enigma looked at each other quizzically. “What?” They said at the same time. Snowy then slowly and casually walked up to Enigma and was up all on her face.
