The Bomb Exploded
The Bomb Exploded
The bomb exploded. The huge sound came from an unidentifiable source to me. People were frantically running around for safety. The injured lay there with rubble crushing their bodies. Shock overwhelmed me so much that I fainted where I stood.
My vision returned when I awoke to see red and orange all around me. It was dark, and my senses were disoriented. Bodies covered in blood were spotted around huge fires. I tried to stand, but I couldn’t. Shards of glass from a broken window were embedded into my arms and legs. Crawling was far too painful, but I needed a way out.
I heard footsteps charge around the hall. The footsteps belonged to a team of firefighters. They were wearing huge masks to protect their breathing. I was lifted into someone’s arms as they carried me outside to a gurney. I was then transported to a nearby hospital in an ambulance.
Once I was in a hospital bed and into my treatment, I was fully informed of what happened. Apparently, a second bomb went off near the I had passed out causing the window to shatter and injure me. It was a terrorist attack on the government building where I worked. Two-hundred people died; many were my coworkers. I’m lucky to be alive, and I owe my gratitude to God and the bravery of the people who saved me. Never again will I take anything for granted like I did before the bombing.
