On a warm Sunday morning at the pet store, a meeting was being held. “Order, order! The head elder has news,” stated one of the elders. All the hamsters gathered around the head elder. He began the meeting by stating, “As all you hamsters know, the annual release day is coming for all you chosen ones. I know that many of our loved ones will be missed, so I decided to hold a Hamster Ball the Friday before the release day.” Charlie along with all the hamsters cheered in excitement. The head elder stated, “If any of you younglings would like to ask one of our gorgeous hamsters to the Hamster Ball, be my guest.” Charlie’s eyes immediately turned towards Zoe and he knew he wanted to ask her. After the meeting, Charlie met up with his friends at his house and they talked about ideas of how Charlie could ask Zoe to the Hamster Ball. All of his friends were giving great, romantic ideas, but Charlie just couldn’t decide what to do. While his friends were leaving, he sat inside his hamster ball, stressing about what to do.
The following day, Charlie thought long and hard about Zoe and what he was going to do. After making up his mind, he went up to his friends and said he doesn’t feel like asking Zoe to the Hamster Ball anymore. “I don’t feel confident, and I think I’ll mess up. Also, she may reject me,” Charlie sadly stated. Charlie’s friends started getting mad at him for backing out. Charlie crawled back home to his ball and cuddled himself in it, crying himself to sleep. That night, Charlie had a dream, a dream that would be the best thing that had ever happened to him.
Awaking in his ball, immediately remembering last night’s dream, Charlie ran to his hamster friends balls.  Tripping and falling over small hay bales and food bowls, he caught himself and kept sprinting with the dream in his mind. When he met up with his friends he told them exactly what his dream was, that if he didn’t get the chance to ask her today, he may never have another chance. His friends agreed with Charlie’s idea and decided to help and support him. The hamsters searched the whole hamster community, sniffing and smelling, staring and glaring, trying to find gifts and presents that Charlie would be able to give to Zoe. At the end of the day, all the hamsters met up with all the treasures they found. There was a bouncy ball, a small flower, a chewing toy, and several treats. “This is great!” Charlie rejoiced joyfully. The hamsters smiled and went back to their balls for the night. In his ball, Charlie thought long and hard about Zoe, and how he wanted to make her happy when he asks her and to make her feel like the special hamster she is. “Tomorrow, at the meeting, I will ask Zoe to the Hamster Ball. I will, I will, I will.”
“Good evening, fellow hamsters. So before we start the meeting…” The head elder was interrupted when all of a sudden, Charlie walked onto the stage, in front of all the hamsters, holding all the gifts he had found. Behind him were his friends, holding small miniature signs spelling out ‘Hamster Ball?’. Charlie asked for the microphone from the head elder. He crawled right at the front of the stage, holding the gifts, and stared right at Zoe. “Zoe, will you go to the Hamster Ball with me?” Zoe stood up, crawled up the stage, and gave Charlie a hug. The crowd of hamsters lit up with excitement. Cheering, squealing, and applauding the hamsters went. Zoe smiled and took the microphone. “Yes, of course,” she said softly with her sweet voice. Charlie hugged her again and thought to himself, ‘I did it, I did it!’
