"Coco!!!sit down and leave my sandals...they are already in a bad state" I yelled. Coco looked at me with his sparkling eyes and saw at me as if i was giving him some complement, that look melted my heart and I went down to cuddle him.
Coco is our dog and do not mistake him to be a well mannered dog in fact he is the most unruly dog you might ever see in your life as well as the most lovable dog and this is definitely because of his initial years on the streets. Oh yes you guessed it right he is a street dog but the story of this street dog finding a place in our house and heart dates to a few months ago.
We live in a colony were almost all the houses are independent houses. If anyone of us goes  out of station we make it a point to tell our neighbours to look after our house for an independent house with no people will definitely be an easy target for thieves, So was the case with my neighbour who was going for a vacation. We used to regularly go to their house for that period of 10 days for watering their plants and telling the servants to do some cleaning. On such days of inspecting their house while we were entering their house we saw a small dog stuck in between the two bars of the gate. Its head was on  one side of the gate and his entire body on the other. It was howling with pain I immediately asked the servant to run to our house and get some cold cream while i decided to start soothing him. I began to pat him slowly and carefully so that he wouldn’t turn much and hurt himself more. He seemed to like me and slowly got calmer. Maybe he knew that i was going to help him out. Meanwhile the servant brought some cold cream from our house I slowly applied it on his head and slowly removed his head from the bars of the gate. His neck was badly bruised and he was so tired of this entire process that he was hardly able to move. I slowly lifted him and placed him on a mat and I decided to look after him till he gets well.

So that was the day I met Coco. He recovered in a few days and the neighbours too came back from their vacation .I was very happy to see him healthy and fit  so I let him go. I badly wanted to keep him but my mom objected it. I thought i would never see him again .But it was not true.
A few days later when I was alone at home I heard a dog bark fiercely at someone I went out to see what was going on to and to my surprise it was the same dog I helped,  barking at some people .They were standing at the entrance of our house. The dog  was not allowing them to put a step forward. I thought he would bark and go away. My parents too said that they saw a dog barking at some strangers near our house on their way home from shopping. The next day we heard that a group of thieves were caught in our locality and when we saw the pictures in the newspaper we were surprised to see that they were the same people who were standing near our house!!.My parents were glad that it was because of the dog that they did not enter our house. I told them it was the same dog I helped and I again asked them if I could take him in .They thought for a while and agreed .I was the most happiest person in the world that day .I immediately went out and lured him in he came in so calmly and quietly and was definitely the best behaved dog. He had a great affinity towards me so did I.I named him Coco and since then he is staying with us.

Coco is a very smart dog. Although he may not be good looking he definitely is the best dog. I realised that day that if we show affection to someone or if we help someone let it be a human being or an animal, wholeheartedly without expecting anything in return then we will definitely will be helped again in time of need in some form or the other .Also after Coco’s incident I decided to encourage people to adopt street dogs rather than buying them.
