THE UNKNOWN SECRET

“Wake up Madeline!” said Margret, my mom.
“I'm up mom,” I said slowly getting up out of bed, “Do I have to drive to school today or are you taking me?”
“I think you're going to have to drive, and  you also have to drive your little brother to school,” said Margaret.
“Mom I really dont want to Matthew to take school. All his little 8th grade friends stare at me and I find it kind of awkward,” I said.
“Listen Madeline, you're going to take him to school no matter what, I don't care if they stare at you. You’re just going to have to deal with it.” said mom walking away from the door.
“Mom, that’s not fair. When I was in elementary school, I had to take the bus. How come Matthew can't take the bus?” I said, walking out of my room.
“He can't take the bus because now he has an older sister who loves him dearly,” said my mom, “Plus, when you were in elementary we didn't have much money so I made you take the bus. I just wanted you to be ready for high school.” my mom said, getting breakfast ready.
“Why did you marry Carter mom?” I said, sitting down.
“I married him because I loved him;  he helped us alot. Look just be happy you have a  car, and a loving father,” said mom.
“I think you just married him because we were losing our house. Carter will never be my dad. Plus I didn't get the car because of him. It’s called a job mother. Maybe you should get one!” I said.
“You know what, your job isnt even real! All you do is make videos and post them up on that stupid little website. What's it called again? Itube?” said my mom, raising her voice screaming at me.
“Its called youtube, it is a real job. I go to Vidcon, and I get to go on tour with my boyfriend Beau. So dont you ever say Youtube is not a real job!” I said stomping into my room.
“Don't you give me attitude, now go get ready, and be ready to take Matthew to school,” said mom.
“Fine mom I will!” I said closing my door. I walk over to my night stand. I slowly pick up my phone. As soon as I was about to call Andrea, my best friend, Beau calls.
“Hey Beau,” I said.
“Hey, I missed you yesterday,” said Beau.
“Same, are you going to school today?” I said.
“Yes, want a ride?” said Beau
“Not if you don't mind taking Matthew to school first,” I said, getting my curling iron out.
“Sure, I'll be there in about 20 mins.” Beau said.
“Okay, bye.” I said turning on the curling iron.
“Love you pumpkin.” said Beau.
“You too,” I said, hanging up.
As I waited for my curling iron to heat up, I decided to pick out my outfit. I finally decided to wear my white oversized sweater, and some tight black jeans. Along with my dark grey scarf, brown ankle boots, and a light brown beanie.
“Madeline, I’m sorry for yelling at you. You don’t have to take Matthew to school,” said my mother.
“No mom I’ll take him. Beau is taking me, so he said he'll just drop off Matthew.” I said
“No, I want YOU to drop him off.” said my mom furiously
“Mom I am going to drop him off, calm down, I’ll pick him up after school too.” I said
“No ill pick him up, he has a dentist appointment to get his braces removed.” said my mother.
“Alright, I'll go to Beaus house after school. Now can finish my hair?” I said as I grabbed a section of hair applying it to my curling iron.
“Yeah, see you in a little bit. I'm going to go wake up your brother.” Said my mom, as her voice faded, walking away.
I finally finished curling my hair, now time to go eat breakfast. As i walk down stairs, I smell the aroma of my moms famous maple syrup pancakes and her tender juicy bacon. As I walk up to the kitchen table, I see that Beau is already here. I go up to him and cover his eyes with my hands.
“Guess who it is” I said in a much deeper voice.
“Um is it Ricky?” Beau said playfully.
“No silly its me your girlfriend.” I said as uncover his eyes.
“Oh hey there cutie, I wanted to surprise you.” Beau said.
“Oh you did, I'll be right back I have to go brush my teeth.”  I say as I walk to the bathroom.
I brush my teeth then walk out the bathroom.
“Yeah I really like this girl, but I dont want to ruin our friendship. Should I ask her out ?” said Matthew.
“Well, I say yes. You should never go with my choice. I mean I'm not sure I’ll be coming around like I used to... I have to talk to your sister.” said Beau
“About what?” said Matthew confused
“I need to tell her what I’ve done and it may ruin our relationship.” Beau said.
“What did you do?!” I say loudly walking into the kitchen.
“I’ll tell you in the car.” Said Beau
“Come on Matthew, lets go wait in his car.” I said as I grabbed my bag.
“I didn't even finish my food!” said Matthew standing up grabbing his backpack.
“Its okay,  you can eat it in my car.” Said Beau
“Give me your keys Beau.” I say holding my hand out.
“Calm down babe.” Beau said handing me the keys.
“\We'll talk later.” I said as i grabbed the keys and walked to the door.
“Wait, I don't want you to leave on a empty stomach.” Margaret said.
“I’ll eat at lunch I promise.” I said
“Alright, if anythings wrong just call me.” Mom said.
“Okay I will,  Matthew lets go to the car.” I said as I walked towards the door going outside to the roofless convertible.
“What do you think he needs to talk to me about?” I asked Matthew
“Well, I'm not sure, maybe hes going on tour and wants you to go with him..” Matthew said
“I dont think so he said It'll ruin our relationship. I think he’s going to break up with me.” I said as I turned on the car.
“He would never do that to you. Don't think that.” Said Matthew.
“Lets go take Matthew to school so we can talk in private.” said Beau as he sat in the car.   “Okay lets go.” I said putting in my seat belt.
We took Matthew to school. It hurts to know something might break us apart.
“ Hey?” Said Beau
“Yes?” I said
“You know how I came back from tour?” Said Beau
“Yeah, the Janoskians tour right?” I said
“Yeah that tour, I'm sorry you couldn't go with me. James brought Andrea. We were in the tour bus eating dinner and here comes Andrea kissing me all over me saying that she loves me. Me being stupid, I kissed her back and I kinda liked it. I'm sorry if you’re hurt. Just to let you know I love a lot..” Said Beau
“You cheated on me with my best friend, how could you?! You mean the world me! You know that I think about it, the only reason I dated you was because I feared of being alone. I felt like I was alone the whole time we dated. You were always in  that stupid little tour, I think you care more about that than me. I'm done with you, I never want to talk to you again Beau Brooks!” I said crying.
“ We can work this out I promise I’ll quit the group I promise. You know what nevermind get out my car. I actually meant to cheat on you, I was tired of you. Dont come to me for anything ever again. I hate you Madeline Pottorff .” Beau said as he pulled over unlocking the door.
I take my phone out my bag and unlock it. I quickly go to my gallery and delete all the photos of me and Beau. I still can't believe he did that. Once I'm finished deleting all the pictures, I call ricky to see if he can give me a ride because its raining.
“Ricky, can you please give me a ride?” I said frantically
“Yeah sure, where are you?” Ricky said
“I'm at the corner of Miner and Filbert. Please hurry It’s  raining!” I said
“I'm literally right around the corner from there I'll be there in about 30 seconds.” He said hanging up.
30 seconds later he honked notifying me he had arrived.
“Come on Madeline I don't want to be late for school.” He said
“Ricky I really dont want to go, can we please stay home? My mom wouldnt mind.” I said
“Yeah sure let me call my mom and tell her that I'm not going.” He said picking up his phone.
“Alright let me just text my mom then, Ricky, he cheated on me.” I said
“Hey Maddy, lets talk about this when we get to my house.” He said grabbing my hand.
After 10 mins of driving we arrived at Rickys house. My mom said It’s fine.
“Hey Madeline, do you wanna talk about it now?” He said
“Ricky he cheated on me with Andrea. I thought he truly loved me. He knows how I get. He was the one who helped me through my suicidal stage. Then again, you were. Thank you Ricky for being there for me, I  really appreciate it. I dont think I can trust Andrea anymore. He said when he was on tour that she came after him first, knowing him, he probably went after her.” I tell Ricky as I begin to cry
“Hey there  don't cry, we can get over this together. He cheated on you with Andrea?! Wow thats mean. He wasnt worth it anyways.” Ricky says giving me a comforting hug.
“Yeah and I have to face both of them tomorrow.” I said
“Maddy? Would you like to go out for dinner tonight?” Ricky said
“I don't know Ricky, I don't think I'm stable enough.” I said
“Come on, just as friends I promise.” Ricky said.
“Fine.” I said            “Ricky I really do like you, but I just dont want to ruin our friendship.” I said
“I like you too Maddy, how bout we don't go to dinner. We just go to hill?” Ricky said
“Ricky you remember the hill?! I havent been there since we were little kids!” I say
“I know lets go now.” He said as he turned the car around.
We went to the hill, me and Ricky decided that we were going to get andrea back. We had decided that he will date her and make her fall in love, and after she does he’ll break up with her and start dating me
“Come on Ricky lets go, It’sgetting late.”
“Okay.” Ricky says as he drives me home
I go into my house and go to my room quickly falling asleep, I wake up and decide to put my hair in a messy bun and wear my peach pink skater skirt, a white tanktop, a black short sleeve jacket, my white flats, and my ray bans. I text Ricky to see if he can pick me up, of course he said yes. My mom said that she'll be taking Matthew to school today. Ricky finally picks me up and we drive to school, once we get to school we see andrea. We get out the car and Ricky goes over to her and gives her a hug. I walk up to them.
“Hey Madeline, you're not mad are you?” Andrea said
“Of course not it was a mistake wasnt it?” I said
“Yes a mistake.” said Andrea
“Hey Andrea will you be my girlfriend? I've been wanting to ask you for weeks.” Ricky said.
  “Of course I will.” Andrea said hugging Ricky.
Plan A complete.
“Hey lets get to class” I say
“Alright see you later Ricky.” Andrea said.
“Bye Andrea.” said Ricky
Beau would send me weird looks. Maybe he was just looking at Andrea because he was jealous. Ricky drives Andrea and I home. I can't stand her, she's getting on my nerves. I just can't wait til Ricky breaks her heart, then he’ll be all mine. Gosh I don't know why I didnt choose Ricky. He finally drops me off.
“So hows you and Beau?” Matthew  asked.
“We broke up today actually, he cheated on me with Andrea…” I said
“How could he!?”Matthew said cracking his knuckles.
“Calm down Matthew its fine, plus it made me realize that I like Ricky a lot. Hes been there for me more than Beau ever has, but the thing is that hes dating Andrea to get back at her.” I told Lea.
“Oh well I better go, bye ill text you later.” Matthew said leaving
“Bye!” I said as Matthew closed the door.

*Rickys POV*

“Hey mom I need to ask you a question.” I said as I walked through my front door.
“What is it son?” My mom Becky asked
“I like this girl, her name’s Madeline. I'm  dating her best friend Andrea because Andrea made Madeleines ex boyfriend cheat on her.” I told my mom.
“What's Madeleines last name?” My mom said looking worried.
“Her last name is Pottorff.” I said smiling. I love her last name, but I cant wait til she takes my last name.
“Ricky son, does she have a father?” My mom said looking scared
“No he left her when she was born. Why what happened?” I asked
“You can't date her Ricky..” My mom said
“Why not mom” I asked as my eyes begin to tear up.
“Ricky I haven't told you, but you have a sister.. and Madeline is your sister.”  My mom said
“Mom she can't be my sister! We dont even have the same last name.” I say
“She took her moms last name son, her dad was seeing both me and Margaret. You took your dads last name..” My mom said
“Mom I fell in love with my own sister!!” I said.
“Listen you have that other girl.” My mom said.
“Mom I don't like her, I'm only dating her because me and Madeline came up with an idea. The idea is that I date Andrea and make her fall for me, and when she does I’ll break up with her and go out with Madeline. I guess I can’t do that now, I’ll go text Madeline and tell her that I'm her brother.” I said as i hear screaming from my pocket. I take my phone and see that I accidentally butt dialed. I walk to my room
“Andrea? Did you hear anything?” I asked
“Yes I heard everything! I'm going to tell her now before you hurt me.” Andrea says.
“No andrea, I'll tell her. Goodbye, we’re done I hate you.” I said as I hung up.
I quickly call Madeline.
“Hello?” She said
“Madeline I have to tell you something.” I said
“What is it Ricky? Oh I love you Ricky so much.” She said
“Madeline, we can't date, I’m sorry. I can't believe I 'm saying this, but you're my sister.” I said as I began to cry
“No you can't be my brother!” She said crying
“I am though, and I think we should end all contact.” I said as I hung up with her.

*Madelines POV*
 
I can’t believe he’s my brother. I fell in love with my brother. I quickly run to my bathroom and turn on the water. I grab all my razors and take out all the pills and a cup. I sit in the bathtub and begin to cut up my thighs, over my stomach, all up my arms, everywhere on my body. Gosh it felt so good, I take all the pills into my hand and fill the cup with water. I swallow all the pills. I feel my body being lifted into the skies. I can’t believe this is it, and next thing you know, I’m lifeless.
