It’s Friday afternoon Michael and his best friend Drake, are practicing for their very important basketball game on Saturday. This game means a lot to both of them because they show off their skills to the college coaches. The coaches choose who they want on their team and who they don’t depending on how they are playing and if they are good enough to be in there team.
“Are you ready for tomorrow’s game,” asked Drake?
“No I have this weird feeling that things are not going to come out the way they should,” said Michael.
“But we been working very hard and been waiting for this day so our dream can come true,” said drake. 
“Yes I have been, but I just have this weird feeling,” said Michael.
They kept practicing because there dream is to become a famous basketball player. This game means a lot because the coaches are going to choose who they want and if they are good enough to be in their college team. If they choose them it’s easier for them to be in a famous basketball team. It’s Saturday in the morning Michael gets up and he is a little nervous already. Mikey goes to the kitchen and makes himself something healthy to eat. He is sitting down eating his breakfast and thinking about his very important game. Michael finishes his breakfast and goes to take a shower. After he starts to get ready and packing up all his things he needs to play with. He finishes and he is ready so he goes to his garage to turn on his car, but it wouldn’t turn on. He starts to get mad. Then he gets a phone call from his little sister, she is crying telling him that there mom is in the hospital.
“Mom is in the hospital very sick,” said his sister Danesa.
Michael gets shocked and just tells his little sister,
“Calm down” said Michael. “and why is she in the hospital what happened.”
“She just got really sick overnight so we brought her to the hospital,” said Danesa.
“I’ll try to go over there in a little while,” said Mikey.
They hung up and Mikey didn’t know what to do he was he was going crazy. So he called Drake and told him everything that was happening but drake couldn’t believe it.
“I will go pick you up and give you ride to the hospital in a bit,” said Drake.
“Okay thanks a lot I’m ready so I’ll just wait for you,” said Mikey.
Drake went to go pick up Mikey to take him to the hospital, in the car Drake asked.
“Are you going to the game still?”
“Yes I want to but I don’t know if I can make it because my mom is really sick and I don’t have a car,” said Mikey.
“But this game depends on your future,” said Drake.
“I know I’ll see when I get to hospital and see how my mom is,” said Mikey.
When Mikey got to the hospital he went to see his mom and how she was doing. The doctor came in and told him what was happening with his mom.
“Your mom has a tumor and has to go in for surgery right now,” said the doctor.
“How long would the surgery take,” asked Mikey worried?
“Im not sure but it is urgent we will take her in ten minutes,the family can wait in the waiting room for people that are getting surgery,” said the doctor.
“Okay ill let my family know,” said Mikey worried.
“You’re welcome if you have any questions just ask me before she goes in for surgery,” said the doctor.
When the doctor left Michael’s mom Maria said i'm going to be fine don’t worry. Then she asked.
“Isn’t today your very important game?”
“Yes” answered Mikey.
“Why are you here you should be with your team getting ready for your game son,” said  Mikey’s mom.
“Mom I came to see you and how you were doing and besides you’re my mom and you mean a lot to me,” said Mikey.
“But son i’m going to be fine don’t worry besides  that game is your future, if you make it that’s going to be what you always wanted,” said Mikey’s mom.
“Mom you are going to have surgery and i need to be here and besides I don’t have a car so I can’t go to the game,” said Mikey.
“Why what happened by the way your dad and sister are going to be here with so you don’t have to worry,” said Maria.
“The car did not turn so Drake brought me over here and i think i'm gonna stay still because i have to be here with you guys,” said Mikey.
“Oh son that’s really bad well then take your dads car and everything will be fine don’t worry go on because that is your future,” said Maria.
“But where is dad I haven’t seen him,” asked Mikey?
“He went to the cafeteria with your sister,” said Mikey’s Mom.
Michael went to the cafeteria to go see how his dad and his sister were doing and to tell them what the doctor had told Mikey what his mom had. When his dad seen him he asked.
“Why are you here don’t you have that important game today.”
“Yes dad but I had to come see mom and see how she was doing,” said Mikey.
“Well did you see her already,”  Asked Mikey’s dad?
“Yes I did the doctor came in when i was there and he told me that she is going to get surgery because she has a tumor,” said Mikey.
“Is the tumor really big,” asked Mikey’s dad worried?
“No but they want to  take it out before it gets bigger the doctor said that she is going in for surgery in ten minutes,” said Mikey.
“Okay son i’ll go up there when your sister gets back from the bathroom, but you should get going,” said Mikey’s dad. 
“Dad i’m not going to leave you guys here alone i’m gonna stay with you guys,” said Mikey.
“No son you have to get going that game is your future and i don’t want you to miss it and i don’t think your mom either,” said Mikey’s dad.
He stayed quiet for a minute thinking what he was going to do it was very hard for him to choose between his future and his mom. Then he said 
“I know dad and mom told me the same thing besides i don’t have a car to got to my game,” said Mikey.
“I’ll let you borrow my car so you can go,” said Mikey’s dad.
“Really dad,” asked Mikey?
“Yes my keys are in your moms room go and get them so you can get going,” said Mikey’s dad.
“Well dad lets go together so you guys can see mom before she goes in for surgery and so i can say good bye,” said Mikey.
They went up to Maria’s room and Mikey got the keys and said good bye to his mom. His mom was happy that he decided to go to his game she wished him luck and told him,
“Good bye son hope you guys win and you get accepted by the way call us when your are done with your game,” said Mikey’s mom.
“Yes mom i will so i can know how was your surgery also,” said mikey.
“Also thanks a lot dad for letting me borrow your car,” said Mikey.
“You are very welcome and good luck son i wish you the best,” said Mikey’s dad.
As Mikey was leaving everyone wished him luck, Mikey then leaves to his game. After all his hard work and putting time in what he wanted to be his future he got chosen to be on the team. He was so happy the first thing he did was to call his family and let them know.
“DAD I got chosen to be on the team!!!!!” said Mikey in a very happy voice.
“Great job son we are proud of you well call us later so you can  go celebrate with your team.” said his dad.
“But dad how was moms surgery is she fine,” asked Mikey?
“Yes son she is doing great the doctor said she can probably leave home in two days or so,” said Mikey’s dad.
When he hung up with his family he got with his team and they celebrated so much because they were all waiting for this moment to come true. Michael and Drake were crying of happiness when they found out they made it to the team. This moment was a time for them to remember all their live. They told each other
“THE HARD WORK PAYS OFF”
They both just couldn’t believe it but all they had to do now was to work hard so they could stay in the team. Then Michael and Drake were two of the best ones in there team they kept on going. Afterwards they got called to play for the Chicago bulls when they got older. The dream of both them succeeded because it became true. Later on Michael got married and he had kids. He became very famous and so did his best friend Drake they both had all what they dreamed for since they were little.
