Manterville

Right when you thought that queens no longer existed, and that every country had their own rules, Queen Mant came along. Queen Mant is a vicious queen that had the chance to take over a little town called Manterville. Manterville was a very quiet town with lots of people, but in Queen Mants mind she wanted all the people out of Manterville. She thought that it would be wonderful to have the entire town to herself. All of the people that lived in Manterville were very scared of Queen Mant. One day an old man named Chris sent Queen Mant a letter complaining about her plan. Chris was not like the rest, he was not scared of Queen Mant at all. Chris always believed that he should fear no one, and that he should stand up for what he believes. The letter said, “ Dear Queen Mant, the time has come for someone to finally try and change your mind. All the people in this town are beyond scared to lose their jobs, lives, and maybe even children because of your plan. We all have our lives set on certain things here in Manterville, and it’s cruel of you to try and kick us out. Maybe if your reasoning was able to persuade us we would understand and leave the town, but since it’s not, all of us are against your plan. Thank you, Chris.” Queen Mant was vicious when she read the letter, and threw it on her gold, eight-foot table.  She gripped her long black lace, dress, and let out a huge scream. She could not handle the fact that the rest of the town was against her plan.

The next morning Queen Mant went on a walk through the town to see what was going on. It was incredible, there were fliers everywhere stating that there was a huge survey on December 8th in the Queens meeting room. This survey was scheduled with Queen Mants personal assistant. Queen Mant was shocked, because nobody ever asked her about this. She took down every flier and reported to the town that she wanted Chris in her meeting room as soon as possible. She knew that he was the head of this idea. Later that day, Chris came to the meeting room. He walked in with another huge stack of fliers, and said “May I help you?” and threw them on her table.  She asked him questions about the fliers and what the survey was about. After a good three hours of arguing, Chris was very surprised by Queen Mant. Queen Mant decided that she would let the survey continue, and she agreed to one of Chris’ ideas. His idea was that if more than 480 people in the town vote for her to not continue on with her vicious plan, that she wouldn’t. Surprisingly Queen Mant actually agreed. Chris thought that maybe she has changed her mind, and didn’t want to continue with the plan.

That evening Queen Mant thought about what she had told Chris. She couldn’t believe that she agreed to his idea. She sat on her black couch and thought about her plan. Millions of ideas ran through her head. She questioned why she even wanted everyone out of the town. She never really had an answer to why. She could take over another place that had no people, it would be the same, right? Why ruin the people’s lives? She summarized all her thoughts and came to a conclusion. She wasn’t going to do it, she just couldn’t. She knew that if she was a person living in Manterville that she would hate if the Queen wanted to do that. All Queen Mant wanted to do at the moment  was be fair. Somehow Chris had really gotten to her, but how?

The next day Queen Mant made an announcement saying that she would let all of the people stay in Manterville. She stood on her balcony and took the microphone from her personal assistant. “To make you all happy, and to make my job easier, I will just let you all stay here. How does that sound?” All the people stood up screaming and laughing, they were very happy with the decision that Queen Mant has made. After the announcement, Chris came to Queen Mants meeting room and asked her how she changed her mind all of a sudden. She told him that after hours of arguing with him, that he had finally persuaded her. It was the wrong thing to do, and putting peoples lives in risk was not the right thing to do. From today on, Queen Mant decided to become a nice queen and listen to what the villagers had to say.
