It was July 24, 1972, on a very sweltering day. There were no clouds. All you can see was the big bright sun hovered around you. Around 6 o’clock in the afternoon, a baby girl by the name of Lupita was born. A tear of happiness runs down her parent’s cheeks. When Lupita turned one, her parents received very bad news from the bank. They said that they were behind rent for this month. Lupita’s parents cried and cried and prayed to for god for their situation to get better. This kept happening for 4 years. When Lupita turned 4 years old, she had to world’s silkiest black hair and the world’s biggest and shiniest blue eyes that sparkle whenever they are in the sun. Lupita started kindergarten at Fillmore school. Lupita tried to make friends but they would just ignore her. In that moment the heart of her mother broke into little pieces when Lupita was standing in the middle of the playground crying her eyes put. When school was over, Lupita didn’t want to eat. It was like this for the past few weeks. It was already half of the school year when a scary looking girl came in her classroom. She was as tall as a tree, Lupita thought to herself. The bell rang. It was time for lunch. Then all of sudden this big shadow hovered around her. When Lupita turned around, her eyes grew big.

"Hey little girl what’s your," said Megan.

Megan had black hair and dark brown eyes.

"M-m-m-y n-name i-i-is lu-lu-lupi-ta," she said shivering.

"Well, Lupita, I bet you won’t mind if I take your..."

As soon has Megan finished her sentence, she grabbed Lupita’s lunch box and punched Lupita in the face and walked away. Lupita lay on the ground crying until her teacher, Mrs. James, came and helped her up. Mrs. James took her to the office. The principal, Mrs. Worford, then suspended her. Lupita didn’t have a friend until Fifth grade. That day, October 9, 2000, during math a girl came in by the name of Guadalupe. Lupita started at her like she finally had seen Santa Claus for the first time. Guadalupe has long brown hair, bright green eyes that she freckles and her little brown eyes. Mrs. Delporto told Guadalupe to have a seat next to Lupita. Lupita jump out of her seat as if she had ant in her pants. As Guadalupe sat down in her seat Lupita introduced herself.

"Hi, I’m Lupita".

"Nice to meet you. I’m Guadalupe."

Lupita was really excited that she finally had someone to talk to.

Lupita asked Guadalupe, "I was wondering if……. you want to….be my friend?"

Guadalupe eyes open has big as they could.

"Yes. Let’s be best friends."

They both joined h ands and jumped around together. They had been best friends ever since that day.

At the age of 15 Lupita was already a sophomore. Lupita was very sad though. Her best friend Guadalupe left. She went to Canada because her dad got a job over there. But she got over it quickly because she made so many friends that she couldn’t remember all of their names.

All of the boys had a crush on her. But nobody knew that she was going out with a cholo named Oscar. When school was over, she found her boyfriend, Oscar, waiting for her by the trees in front of Edison High School. When Oscar waits for her somewhere, that means that she had done something wrong. But Lupita tried to ignore him. Then it clicks. She hadn’t call and text him for a whole week. Lupita tried to stay away from him, but Oscar kept following her. Oscar came up to her, and grabbed her wrist. Dropping her books on the ground, and fear in Lupita’s eyes, starring into Oscar eyes, you can clearly see flames growing of anger. Oscar started asking Lupita a question at the side of the sidewalk.

"Why didn’t you call huh nena?"

"I forgot. I had a lot of homework and projects to do," answering Lupita.

"Homework? Projects? Dam girl you’re at the age to party and have fun not to do homework or project," replied Oscar.

"You know what Oscar…."

Right in the middle of her sentence she saw her mother and father, Miguel,

drives pass them. Lupita was so scared that her father didn’t even let her have a boyfriend in the first place.

It was getting dark. Lupita had to end the conversation and go home.

"Huh, Oscar", said Lupita.

"Yea babe", replied Oscar

"I think it’s better if we break up".

Lupita tried to walk away but Oscar but her grabbed her wrist and slap her.

"Good ‘cuz I didn’t even like you, and plus you’re still a little kid cuz you still listen to your mother a father," telling Lupita.

Oscar spit on Lupita and walked away.

Lupita walked home heartbroken. The only boy that she cared about broke her heart and slapped her. Lupita finally got home. She walked up to her porch and took a big breathe and enter her house. She closed her door and she heard

"Lupita"! yelled her father.

As soon as Lupita heard that she jumped. Her father said really mean things in Spanish while hitting her with his belt. Every time her brother would hit her she would jump a little and bit her lip for she won’t cry. Once her father thought she had learned her lesson he would stop and let Lupita go to her room. Lupita found her mom waiting for her in her room. Her mom was really mad. When she saw Lupita entered her mother stand up and they made eye contact.

"Porque hicistes eso Lupita", asked Lupita.

Lupita just stand there and looked at the floor for a while. Her mother came close to her. Lupita looked up at her. Her mother made this made face and then slapped her straight across her face. Lupita fell on the ground and stayed there for a while. When her mother left her room she went to her bed and cried for the whole night. That was just a horrible day for her. The next morning when she woke up, she had a big bruise on the left side of her body. She rubbed her eyes and her face started to hurt. She got up and head over to the mirror. She panics when she saw her face because she has a big bruise on her right side. She was scared to go to school because everybody would laugh at her. She went to her bed and started crying for a couple of minutes. When she was finish she wiped her tears and got ready for school.

Lupita's mom usually drives her to school but Lupita thought about what happen the other day. Lupita walked to school. When she arrived to school she had her head down the whole way. She was like this for a couple of days. Her friends asked her what was wrong, but Lupita would always ignore them and walks away.

School ended and Lupita went to the park. As soon as she arrives she saw Oscar. Oscar was chillin' at the benches with his group "Los Muertos". They were talking, and Oscar turned. For some reasons Oscar had this feeling that he just had to turn. He saw Lupita walking all herself. Oscar walks away from the group. His group looks at each other confused and just followed him. Lupita turns around, and sees Oscar coming toward her. She walks faster after seeing Oscar following her. Oscar started shouting out mean things to Lupita. Lupita started ignoring, but stop when he started talking about her family. Lupita got really furious and started walking towards him. As soon as Lupita was face to face with Oscar she started saying things back to them. Oscar was surprise because he never saw Lupita get really mad. There was a very long silence when Lupita stopped talking.

Several years past, Lupita never spoke to her parents so she decided to move out. .Her mother and father didn't say anything when she was walking out the door. Her parents just sat in the living room watching television and acting like Lupita wasn't even there. She started to live on the streets at the age 19.

Weeks past, Lupita saw a group of guys strolling down the street. One of the person spotted Lupita.

"Hey jefe look at that girl over there", said a guy from the group.

"Necesitamos una chava", asked the same person.

The person in front started at her for a moment. Marcos, the leader of the group, stared at her for a while. Marcos walked over to her and introduced himself. They started talking for a long time. Marcos came up to the group with Lupita on his left with one arm around her and telling the rest of the people that was staring at them.

"Guys, welcome Lupita to the hang", said Marcos.

Lupita was really happy. Her eyes sparkled. Lupita went back where she was and got her things. All the people in the gang looked at her weird. Marcos walked over to Lupita.

"Mi ha leave that there no sotos te comamos cosas nuevos", said Marcos. Lupita left her things there and went with the gang,

"First thing first nena, we are going to get you matching clothes just like all of us", said Marcos.

Lupita was very happy that she couldn’t keep her eyes closed. They went to the store that said Death. As soon as they enter there were a lot of serious guys. Marcos picked out a white tank-top, grey sweat, a black and red plod shirt, a black hander chief, and a red beanie. He also got her black and red eye shadow, and lip gloss. Lupita was shocked because she had never used to wearing baggy clothes. They all went to Marcos’s House. When she enters you see drugs all over the coffee table. Lupita was scared because he didn’t want to deal with drugs. But in her mind, she said to herself as soon that you’re in a group there is no turning back.

8 years past, Lupita changed a lot. She has 5 tattoos, and she started being rude. She doesn’t care what she does no more and she LIKES doing DRUGS. One day, Marcos came up to her.

"I got a job for you", said Marcos.

"What is it", said Lupita.

"For now on you’re going to be selling drugs now", said Marcos.

"W-what?" answering Lupita.

"I said you’re going to started selling drugs for now on", replied Marcos.

"Oh….ok," answered Lupita.

Lupita took 50 pounds of crystal and put it in her pocket. Lupita heart started racing and she started to panic because she doesn’t want to get caught by the police. So very carefully Lupita went up to people asking if they wanted to buy any. For one week she got no sales. Days past and Lupita is getting better at her job. All of a sudden this old guy by the name of Luis comes up to her. For some reason Lupita had a very strong connection with him and started to walk towards him.

"Buenos tardes Lupita," said Luis.

"How do you know my name," replied Lupita.

"I’m your tío Luis"

Lupita stared at him with a blank face. Then Lupita hugged him and a lot of tears were running down their face. The all of a sudden the police broke them up.

The police said," Luis Mendoza estas arrestando para gang involvement and selling drugs."

Lupita felled on the ground and started to cry. Marcos tried to pull hermup but he couldn't

A few days past, Lupita hadn't eaten anything. So Marcos took Lupita to go see her uncle. When Lupita arrived where the police took her uncle to jail. She asked one of
the officers if she can visit her uncle, Luis Mendoza, and the officer nodded and took her. She saw her uncle sitting down at the bench and staring into his hands. Shw walked toward him and sat down. They were face to face.

"Why did they bring you over here? What did you do wrong?" asked Lupita.

Her uncle signed and said,"Mi ha.....I was a gang member and I used to sell drugs".

Lupita upita sat there quietly. Her uncle looked at her weird.

"You ok mi ha", said heer tio.

"Me....oh yea", answered Lupita.

Visiting time was over and Lupita walked outside to meet Marcos. She saw him in his car. She walked over there and sat in the passenger seat and sat there quietly.

"What's wrong", asked Marcos.

Lupita looked out the window and said nothing. Marcos shrugged his shoulder and started to drive. For a couple of minutes Lupita started to talk.

"I want to leave the gang", said Lupita.

Marcos hit on the brakes really quick. They both jumped out of their seats. Marcos looks at her.

"Que, are you crazy? If you want to leave the group I would have to kill you before you called the police", said Marcos.

"But I won't Marcos. Why would I do such a thing like that", answered Lupita.

Marcos parked at the parking lot of Walmart. Marcos tooked out his phone and opened it. He called the rest of the group and told them to meet him at "THE PLACE." Lupita was really scared because she didn't know what "THE PLACE" was.

It took about at least 10 minutes to get there. Lupita saw the rest of the gang. When they saw her they put their heads down. They had a gun, a bag, a chair, and 2 pieces of rope. The rest of the gang member set the chair all the way in the back of the ally. Lupita followed them and sat down. One of her fellows group partner told her to put her hands back of the chair and the cross her legs. She did as they told her and he tied her up. Then he placed the bag over her head . He walked away from her and walked over to Marcos and handed him the gun. Marcos checked if the gun had bullets. He reloaded the gun and shot 10 bullets at Lupita and it hit her in the chest. Marcosand the rest of the gang enter the car and droved away as fast as they can. People heard the gun shots from half a m ile away. They panic and called the police. About 30 minutes when Marcos and the gang left the ambulance and the police arrived. It was too late. Lupita had already been dead. They police had never found out who had killed Lupita.
